What data does it collect? Why?

Once understood how much use the waterfront gets, we will get more support for maintenance and improvements.
Thanks for sharing the news!

As a start, these 2 sites show what is available and possible.
From Denmark
https://ramboll.com/media/rme/ramboll-smart-city-poles
From the Netherlands (it is in Dutch but can be interpreted easily)

On these Smart Poles, it is possible to have smart lighting, power outlets for electric cars and bicycles, 4G and 5G phone networks, advertising, and more. Could the BCC, for example, co-operate with the telephone companies to share the poles, thus reducing costs for all. This may solve the wifi provision issue.

Another step toward constant monitoring? I’d like to understand more about the smart poles function in this area.

This e-newsletter is what we need as there is nothing in the Courier Mail.
Well set out and easy to read and I hope more to news to come. Not sure about this beacon near the wading pool as some of thew signicant aspects are not included such as the coloured pattern light forms.
But maybe this e-news will grow with more comments but happy to read about our district.
